On October 2, 2026, Ohio**-class ballistic missile submarines USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735) and USS Wyoming (SSBN 742) arrived at their new homeports of Kings Bay, Georgia, and Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor, Washington, respectively.

The hull swap between Pennsylvania and Wyoming was a planned component of the Navy’s long-term fleet modernization strategy to position the newer ballistic missile submarines at Naval Base Kitsap. This process allows the Navy to position its submarine fleet strategically in preparation for the introduction of the future Columbia-**class ballistic missile submarines, while ensuring our Sailors and their families experience the least disruption possible. By keeping the crews and their families at their current homeports, the Navy maintains stability for our Sailors, their families, and the communities they call home. This initiative underscores the Navy’s commitment to both its critical national security mission and the well-being of our service members and their families.
