Last night, Mei, George and I went out to dinner. A new advertising sign appeared in our lift and I zoomed in on the picture of a T bone steak, it looked delicious. Anyway, we decide to try this new place, The Chanson, and see if it measured up. Walked in and the decor and atmosphere made us feel that this was going to be a lovely meal.
The menu arrived and it included English as well as Chinese, I ordered the T bone and was asked, in English, how I wanted it cooked, I said Medium and he said OK. Usually here they cook the steak by a time such as 6, 8 0r 10 minutes.
A good selection of wines and then Mei spied the Steinlager beer, so I had to have one as I had not had a New Zealand beer for nearly 5 years. Bottled here now in Suzhou. Chinese beer is generally very good and Qingdao, probably their most famous beer was originally brewed by the German settlers and is still a great beer.
Our meal was very nice and then it was off to the Jade Buddha Temple to have a look at the Lanterns on display there.
Not as cold as it has been, about –12c and a clear night. Lantern festival is held on the 15th day after the Chinese New Year and is the end of the Spring Festival celebrations.
Spent an hour wandering around and then off home. Snowed over night but sunny again this morning and is around 0c so not to bad.
