New air conditioning is part of an almost $60 million upgrade work being carried out on the Navy’s frigates.
The detail’s emerged in financial figures in the Ministry of Defence’s annual report.
In total, just under $58 million is being spent on a two phase upgrade of platform systems on the vessels.
That includes work on improving heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
The budget for that work is around $23 million.
