THE Armidale Class patrol boat HMAS Broome might be classed as a “minor” war vessel but this sleek 55-metre long, 300-tonne boat will play a major role at the navy’s biggest party for a century in Sydney next week.
Yesterday afternoon in a gale lashed Moreton Bay off Brisbane, the boat’s 25-strong crew under the command of Commander Melanie Verho was practising its “off caps” drill for the so-called “man and cheer ships” ceremony during the upcoming International Fleet Review.
