EU Navfor Saves 880,000 Tonnes of WFP Aid from PiratesEU NAVFOR AND WFP SHIPS

The EU Naval Force Somalia Operation Atalanta warships have saved about 880,000 tonnes of world food programme aid from pirate attacks, thus achieving the EU Navfor’s primary goal.

 

Operation Atalanta, also known as European Union Naval Force Somalia (EU-NAVFOR-ATALANTA), is a current military operation undertaken by the European Union Naval Force.
EU Navfor is part of a larger global action aimed atstopping and combatting acts of piracy off the coast of Somalia.
The World Food Programme Country Representative for Somalia, Mr. Stefano Poretti said that the continuing collaboration between EU Navfor and the UN’s WFP plays a pivotal role in helping Somali people.
