Spanish Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘Relámpago’ has returned from EU Naval Force’s Operation Atalanta to its naval base in Las Palmas, Spain.

The vessel recently completed the six-month anti-piracy operation in the Indian Ocean.
Since leaving its base on 23 February and joining the operation on March 13, the vessel has traveled more than 28,000 nautical miles in 141 days at sea and visited eight countries.
Operation Atalanta is  a EU maritime security mission fighting piracy in the Gulf of Aden and Somalia, and protecting merchant shipping and fishing trawlers in the area.
