USS Raleigh (CL-7) was an Omaha-class light cruiser of the United States Navy. She was the third Navy ship named for the city of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Raleigh was laid down by Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Quincy, Massachusetts on 16 August 1920; launched on 25 October 1922; sponsored by Miss Jennie Proctor; and commissioned in the Boston Navy Yard on 6 February 1924, Captain William Carleton Watts in command.   http://ift.tt/1sOrIQy
