January 10, 1953 – The auxiliary motor minesweepers Merganser (AMS 26) and Firecrest (AMS 10) receive 40 rounds of 105 mm enemy fire from guns in the vicinity of Ponggang-ni near North Korea. Reports reflect no damage or casualties from the attack. #navyhistoryoftheday
