Photo of the day – Going by the name of Jackal Buzzard due to its strange, jackal-like call, and mostly restricted to South Africa and adjacent Swaziland and Namibia, this resident raptor is a ubiquitous sight wherever mountains with adjacent savanna and grassland occur within its chosen range. A fairly common species, the adults are rather strikingly plumaged, as can be seen in this image by Adam, which he captured at the famous Giant's Castle vulture hide, situated in the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa.
