CV Our most recognized butterfly in North America
Identification: Orange with heavy upperwing black bars
Natural History Notes: You all know that this butterfly has undergone a loss in population and habitat. Consider planting milkweed in your gardens; find wild native plants as seed source in rural roadside ditches/remnant prairie patches…thanks. If milkweed is not your cup-of-team, try planting Asters (a nectar source). Get out to your local natural area (photo taken at a Dupage Couny Forest Preserve-Chicago area) to see the real thing :-)
