Flame-throated bulbul Pycnonotus gularis
A brilliantly colored crestless bulbul endemic to the Western Ghats of Kerala state in south western India. It is a bird of forests of the region close to rivers and a good place to spot it is the Thattekkad bird sanctuary accessible from Kochi international airport. It is frugivorous. It gets its name from the brilliant reddish patch on its throat. With +Vinod Thattekkad the birding guide of Thattekkad.
