The Royal Thai Navy last week was called to rescue a derelict cargo ship listing in the Gulf of Thailand, near the location of an offshore rig.

Upon inspection of the vessel, authorities found the ship drifting, with no crew on board, and taking on water. In fact, all of the equipment on board had been ransacked and there was no documentation to be found. However, markings identified the vessel as the Fin Shui Yuen 2.

After an initial salvage attempt to pump water and tow the vessel to safety, it is reported that the ship sank Saturday about 30 nautical miles from shore.
