Battle of Britain Day has been commemorated at Biggin Hill Airport.

A flying display by Spitfires and Hurricanes took place from the heritage hangar as part of the delayed celebrations.

Both aircraft served alongside one another in combat, with people often wondering which was better. Forces News has taken a look at the fighter aircraft, which were crucial in the Battle of Britain.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF), initially called the RAF Historic Aircraft Flight, was inaugurated on 11 July 1957 at RAF Biggin Hill.

It initially consisted of three PR Mk XIX Spitfires and the LF363 Hurricane.
