The Royal Navy’s only deepwater survey ship, HMS Scott, is heading to Fleet Week New York.

The week-long event celebrates the US Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps.

Held in New York City from 24 May until 30 May, it is expected to feature ship tours, helicopter landings and fast rope displays, Coast Guard search and rescue demonstrations and performances by military musicians.

HMS Scott tweeted to say: “We’ll be showing our support for the UK’s principal defence and security partner.

“Stay tuned for updates on what promises to be an epic event!”

HMS Scott has been contributing to the UK defence effort by surveying the world’s oceans, so that other vessels can navigate safely at sea.

In August 2022, HMS Scott was deployed to the mid-Atlantic to collect data, assisting both the Royal Navy and Nato.

The ship is the largest survey vessel in Western Europe and the fifth largest in the Royal Navy.

She is the only vessel of her class and can remain at sea for 300 days thanks to her crew rotation system.

HMS Scott also performs mine countermeasures in an auxiliary capacity.
