Royal Navy warship HMS Spey was taken for a spin – by the Executive Officer (XO) of HMS Tamar.

In a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, HMS Spey was seen charging through the waves, handled by the second-in-command of her sister ship.

The Tamar officer’s control of Spey demonstrated the close relationship the ships share.

HMS Spey posted: “XO HMS Tamar driving it like he stole it to our next port visit.

“We are excited to be back at sea and operational.

“Having our sister ship’s XO is also great for us to learn from each other.”

The Batch 2 River-class offshore patrol vessels are currently on a five-year deployment to the Indo-Pacific.

HMS Tamar and HMS Spey are the fourth and fifth offshore patrol vessels built to replace the current River Class vessels.

After being reunited in July, after spending 666 days apart, the sister vessels have continued their special relationship in Australian waters.
