HMS VICTORIOUS leaving HMNB Portsmouth for sea trials after an 8 year refit in which she was almost rebuilt and significantly upgraded since her initial launch in 1939

. She would serve until 1968 when she was deleted early as part of defence cuts

Type 984 was a Royal Navy radar system introduced in the mid-1950s, designed by the Admiralty Signals Research Establishment. Type 984 was a 3D S band system used for both ground controlled interception (GCI) and as a secondary early warning system. It was the most sophisticated naval radar of its era.
