John Currin (JC) posted September 20th, 1997 – USS Bataan (LHD 5) is commissioned at Pascagoula, Miss. The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship is homeported at Norfolk, Va. John Currin (JC) posted July 4th, 1992 – USS George Washington (CVN 73) is commissioned at Norfolk, Va. The ships sponsor is First Lady Barbara Bush. The sixth carrier in the Nimitz-class of supercarriers, it is the fourth warship to be named after the first president of the United States.
